I have many things to be thankful for. 2 incredible kids, an incredible wife. Incredible friends, and an incredible community to belong to just to name a few. Another thing I am thankful for is gaming. And specifically, online games.
I love the fact that you can log in and enjoy the game you are playing with friends. Not just talking about it, or playing the same version of the game, but actually playing the same game. In the same world, the same game space. Anyways, that's not really what this post is about.
Simply put
- What in gaming are you thankful for?
- Also -- What are the biggest gaming Turkeys?
I am very thankful for GTA San Andreas. My friend Scott and I used to stay up until 4 or 5 in the morning playing on his PC, alternating who was behind the keyboard. His computer was conveniently located adjacent to the kitchen, so whoever wasn't at the computer around 12 ended up being the midnight snack chef. He and I challenged each other to do increasingly crazy and ridiculous stunts- defying. Even though our random an insightful discussions were often the highlights of the night, GTA often acted as a conduit for our conversations. Now that he is off in Italy for the year, I am even more thankful for those long nights of jacking cars, evading police, and massacring pedestrians.
I am thankful for Steam and how easy it is to set up play and be part of a community in minutes.
Also TF2 it brought me in to a great community, good job with Control Point, and is a game that has been updated frequently and has been one of the best FPS I have played
I am thankful for companies still caring about making worthwhile and very replayable games. Examples include Bethesda with Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, and Fallout 3, both being excellent games. Not to mention Valve for still keeping TF2 as one of the strongest multiplayer shooters on the PC right now.
I am also thankful for online multiplayer as a whole. Things like XBL and Steam have brought us closer to our friends than ever before when it comes to gaming. It is amazing that your friends can just be a couple keyboard click or button presses away.
Finally, I am thankful for the great podcast and community!
Cheers!

I'm thankful that gaming can create a social environment for friends and is a new way for people to meet and do things they are both interested in. I honestly wouldn't be as social if it weren't for the joys of gaming.
Also I love that games provide an experience that no other medium can replicate. Only on games it is acceptable to be encouraged to shoot other people and keep score. Not to mention being rewarded once in a while!
I love this show's quality and community. Keep at it!
