Three friends of mine and I have had a standing game night every week for close to eight years now. We have missed very few weeks in that time, so that's a lot of gaming. We played L4D last week, and it was easily the most fun we have had.
We played the campaigns, no versus, and got through 3 out of the 4 'movies'. We were all shouting our heads off, yelling, laughing. It's just crazy fun. I don't find it particularly scary, so much as tense and action packed.
Our last attempt of the Death Toll finale on Advanced difficulty (at 1:30am) was epic. You're holed up, waiting for a boat rescue. We had been destroyed 3 times already. 4th time we got all 4 out, for the first time that night. We had to wade into a horde to get a survivor out too.

I notice you have an old picture there... depicting the right 4 dead...
