As a general comment, I thought this segment was a great introduction to those not familiar with Weewar.

I've addressed some of the issues raised in this segment below.

Complexity is an issue that has been discussed extensively on the Weewar forums, including things like adding Fog of War (the ability to only see enemies when in range of your units, otherwise they are hidden). It has been recognized that sometimes the simplistic nature of the game creates a sense of predictability about it, but the general consensus is that Weewar's appeal is in it's simplicity. Thus, it's unlikely (though not impossible) that the gameplay would ever evolve into something more complex than it is today. So for hardcore turn-based strategists, they might find Weewar a little too simplistic. However, I can't speak for the developers of the game, so none of this is said with 100% certainty.

I believe that there are some users who successfully play Weewar on the iPhone.

You can create maps for free, but you just can't publish them, which is what allows them to be playable.

"Special Buildings" are Repair shops that repair your units faster than they can repair themselves alone, airfields for air based units, and harbors for naval units. Note that since the "special buildings" are only available to pro account holders, so air and naval units are only available to pro account holders too. EXCEPT, if a pro user invites a basic (free) account holder to a pro game.

AS a general comment on Weewar, I think it's a great little game that doesn't take up a lot of my time (unless I want it to). The community is very helpful and friendly, and it makes for a great burst of fun here and there. All this for free, what is there not to like!

I have been a Weewar junkie ever since a friend (curse him) showed me it in late '08. If you have an addictive personality, stay away from this game. You know who you are.

And I know this Darkbee. It's not true that it doesn't take up a lot of his time .... he is a definately a candidate for a WWA (Wee War Anonymous) class.

A great game. Simplistic? Perhaps. But of excellent design, with a rating system does a pretty good job of letting you know how good a player is. And like chess, good players tend to beat less experienced players, consistenty. A lot of pride can be at stake, since it is less about chance and more brains.
